CONOR MCGREGOR has teased an imminent announcement of the “new date” for his UFC return.

The MMA superstar was set to make his long-awaited return to the Octagon last month in the main event of UFC 303 in Las Vegas.

But a broken pinky finger in one of his last sparring sessions before heading to Sin City hampered his fight in the desert with Michael Chandler.

Team McGregor has set aside late August or early September for the rescheduled return of the UFC poster boy.

AND the Irish suggested that an announcement could be coming in an X post praising recent comments made by light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.

The Notorious wrote: “Real, recognize real. Excited to secure my new date.”

McGregor – the UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion – is eager to return to the Octagon.

But UFC supremo Dana White refuses to begin setting a new date for his return until he receives clearance from doctors.

When presented with the prospect of McGregor returning in August, September or October, he told Barstool Sports: “None of the above.”

The veteran promoter also said at the end of last month: “I won’t do anything until I know Conor is healthy.

Inside McGregor’s Notorious Lifestyle

With more sides to his personality than an octagon, Conor McGregor’s rise has been fascinating.

“It’s not even worth talking about. And September? And October?

“He’s not ready. So why talk about it?”

He added: “I’m not thinking about Conor fighting anyone right now.

“I have no deadline, I have nothing.

“McGregor isn’t even cured yet. McGregor is injured.”

McGregor, 35, hasn’t set foot in the Octagon since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier almost three years ago.

And he was devastated by his first withdrawal from a UFC fight, saying: “We were so over-prepared for this fight that it’s absolutely gut-wrenching to face.

“We had a lapse in concentration and started training without using all the protective equipment.

“And I stubbed my toe on my elbow and broke my toe.

“It needs a few weeks, that’s it.

“I couldn’t justify to my team, nor to the fans, that I made the journey unfavorable.

“That next walk has to be, and will be, 100 percent Conor McGregor. The fans deserve it and we are getting close.

“A slight lapse in concentration and the discomfort of an injury were detected.

“That’s it. Do your homework and move on. I’ll get this back. I need to.”

“I have two fights left on my contract. I’m coming to shine.

“I’ll be back. See you soon. See you at the top. Chandler or not.”
