Steve Erceg are looking forward to an impressive battle with Kai Kara-France.

Erceg (12-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) faces Kara-France (24-11 MMA, 7-4 UFC) in the co-main event of UFC 305, August 17, at the RAC Arena in Perth (pay-per -view, ESPN, ESPN+).

Erceg is coming off a competitive title loss to flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 301 in May. The Perth native recognizes Kara-France’s power, but thinks he has more striking tools.

“I think he’s very dangerous, but I think I’m a little more dynamic,” said Erceg Send radio. “I stay away from certain weapons of his and I think I would have more ways to win on my feet.”

Kara-France, who has 11 knockouts on his resume – including a submission over former champion Cody Garbrandt, got his wish by fighting Erceg. Kara-France said she sees Erceg as a great dance partner, and the former title challenger agrees.

“We’re going to try to kill each other from the first sign and I’m going to try to knock him out,” Erceg said.

Although the fight against Pantoja was close, Erceg knows he has a lot of work to do before he can get another title opportunity.

“I think I was placed in the top five in the rankings,” Erceg said of a possible victory. “I don’t think it’s going to get me a (title) fight right away. He (Pantoja) has had a lot of rematches and there are a lot of exciting fights for him at the moment in the division, so I imagine there are still a few fights left. But this puts me in a good position, at least for the next fights.”
