It’s good to be king, and now Bobby Green It’s good to be a real “King” and not just a presumed one.
For years, Green’s nickname was “King.” He recently said he was planning an official name change, and on Sunday he posted a video on Instagram this indicated that he went through it.
“King” Bobby Green now has an official legal document that makes him Bobby King. Green showed a video of what he said was his birth certificate, along with a second legal document showing the changed surname.
Now perhaps the question is what his nickname will change to and what Bruce Buffer will do, because as it stands now, he is “King” Bobby King, and a simple change would turn him into “Green” Bobby King”, and that doesn’t seems ideal.
Green had arguably the best run of his career last year. He choked former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson at UFC 291 less than a year ago for a $50,000 bonus. He received another extra check 10 weeks later when he knocked out Grant Dawson, who had not lost before, in just 33 seconds.
After a loss to Jalin Turner, he bounced back in April with a decision win over Jim Miller at UFC 300, having won three of his last four fights. This is his best streak in a decade, as he won his first four UFC fights after joining the organization following the Strikeforce merger.
In less than three weeks, Green (31-15-1 MMA, 13-10-1 UFC) has a huge opportunity when he faces highly touted former Cage Warriors champion Paddy Pimblett (21-3 MMA, 5-0 UFC) in enemy territory at UFC 304 in Manchester.
