Khamzat ChimaevThe company’s manager has apologized for his client’s involvement in the SMASH meme coin scam.
Chimaev (13-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) came under fire this week after his social media accounts promoted a cryptocurrency called “SMASH.” Chimaev’s considerable boost caused the cryptocurrency’s value to rise, however, a dramatic drop the next day led people to believe that his money was stolen.
Chimaev’s manager, Majdi Shammas, insists that Chimaev was not involved. He clarifies that they were merely deceived. The posts have since been removed from Chimaev’s social media accounts (via X):
“I want to comment on the recent reports regarding the SMASH meme coin,” wrote Shammas. “I was approached by a group claiming to be fans of my client Khamzat Chimaev. They wanted to record a short video promoting its release. So I agreed to that, nothing more, nothing less. Maybe I was tricked. Khamzat was not involved and knows as little as you do. So the news is really unpleasant and I’m looking for an explanation from those responsible. My apologies to Khamzat and everyone else affected by this, if I could have done anything differently. Thank you for your understanding, I will keep you updated.”

A member of the team working on the “SMASH” token also released a statement on Chimaev’s social networksdenying that they have deceived anyone.
“Regarding supply, yes, we cut 80% of the supply and we still own almost 80% of the supply,” an unidentified man said in a statement. video on X. “We didn’t sell, we weren’t the ones who caused the big drop that happened in the token. Everything is public, you can track all wallets. There is no fraud that is going on. It’s simply the people who bought early, sold very late and made profits, not us. Neither Khamzat’s team nor us caused this.”
