Paddy Pimblett doubts Bobby Green will fight him on the floor UFC 304.
Pimblett (21-3 MMA, 5-0 UFC) faces Green (32-15-1 MMA, 13-10-1 UFC) on the main card of the July 27 event at Co-op Live in Manchester, England (ESPN+ pay per view).
Pimblett remembers catching Green saying he couldn’t finish him, and “The Baddy” challenges him to try to prove that theory inside the Octagon.
“Bobby makes me laugh the way he keeps saying, ‘Paddy mentioned me first,’” Pimblett said in his Youtube channel. “Boy, someone reminded me of this yesterday: remember when I was in San Diego with my wife and you were sitting two rows behind me? Recording Instagram live videos in my head, talking shit about myself. I didn’t have the courage to come and not say anything to my face. So who was talking about who first? It definitely wasn’t me. You were talking about me in 2021, 2022.
“But I also saw a story last week, him saying: ‘Anyone can knock anyone out with one lucky punch, but Paddy, you’re saying you’re going to submit me. You cannot submit to me. Fight me then, boy. Stand by your word. We both know that you can attack even without power. We both know I’m going to attack with you and that you might get knocked out. Fight me. Let’s see if you have the courage to fight me after saying I won’t submit you.”
Nine of Pimblett’s professional wins have been via submission, including back-to-back wins over Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt in the UFC. Green also has nine submission wins on his resume, most recently an arm triangle choke over Tony Ferguson at UFC 291.
