A former champion is back in action in front of her home crowd on Saturday.
Rosa Namajunas (13-6 MMA, 10-5 UFC) lost the strawweight title to Carla Esparza in her second reign as champion. Her move to flyweight began with a loss to Manon Fiorot, but she bounced back against Amanda Ribas in March.
She was supposed to face Maycee Barber in the main event of UFC on ESPN 59 on Saturday in Denver, but Barber withdrew. In step Tracy Cortez (11-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) on short notice, and a comeback would be the biggest win on his resume. She has not lost since her professional debut.
Fiorot is right there backstage to take a shot at champion Alexa Grasso. But can the winner of Namajunas-Cortez jump the line with an impressive victory?
