Alessandro Costa thinks he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves from MMA fans after four appearances in the octagon, and now he’s ready to run.
Costa (14-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has shared results so far in his Octagon tenure, but after a technical knockout in the second round from Kevin Borjas at UFC 301 in May, which earned him Performance of the Night honors, he thinks respect is starting to be paid to his name.
“I think my last fight really got people watching me now,” Costa told MMA Junkie Radio. “I think my last fight achieved that. I made my UFC debut against No. 8, then my second fight was against No. 10, it was at the last minute. I think even in these losses people started to see. I think after the last fight people started to notice. They know who I am.
Costa will have the chance to take a step forward when he faces flyweight Matt Schnell (16-8 MMA, 6-6 UFC) at UFC Fight Night on September 7th at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It’s his most high-profile fight to date and Costa intends to make the most of it.
“It’s a good fight for me,” said Costa. “I think people are starting to know who I am in the category.
