Dustin Poirier questions Conor McGregorthe reason for UFC 303’s withdrawal.

McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) withdrew from his return fight against Michael Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) last month due to a broken little toe, marking the first time “ The Notorious” has withdrawn from a UFC fight.

McGregor clarified that after more than three years away from the Octagon, fans deserve a completely healthy version of him. However, Poirier (30-8 MMA, 22-7 UFC) is unsure if his injury warrants canceling the fight.

“A little toe? I fought with so many injuries,” Poirier said in MMA time. “As Conor said, he fought with so many injuries, I fought with so many injuries over the years, but the little toe doesn’t seem like a reason to give up the fight. Giving you your respect, I don’t know how serious it is either.”

McGregor has not competed since breaking his leg in a TKO loss to Poirier in July 2021. That gave Poirier a 2-1 lead in their trilogy, but McGregor insists there is unfinished business between them.

He continues to criticize Poirier on social media, and “The Diamond” admits that sometimes it is difficult to contain himself.

“He crossed lines you can’t come back from,” Poirier said. “I want to beat him up (when I see the Tweets). He’s trying to take this away from me. He wants me to shoot back. I’m like, ‘Nah.’ Of course I want to say something back and try to pick a fight with him, but it is what it is. We have had a lot of comings and goings over the years, since 2014.”

So, is a fourth fight between them possible?

“I don’t know, I have no idea,” Poirier replied.
