The next UFC event in Paris, France, continues to take shape with an important middleweight clash.

On a UFC Fight Night event on September 28th at the Accor Arena, brendan allen returns to action to take over Nassourdine Imavov in an important fight for both 185-pound title contenders. MMA Junkie confirmed the matchup with multiple sources following an initial report from Fight against minds.

Allen (24-5 MMA, 12-2 UFC) recently revealed in an Instagram video that the UFC offered him the fight, but said he wouldn’t take the fight unless it was the main event. As the winner of three main events in a row, “All In” didn’t want to drop down the card and travel to his opponent’s home country. He later stated on Instagram Stories that he already signed the fight contract before making the video.

Imavov (14-4 MMA, 6-2) has the opportunity to fight in his backyard. A winner of two consecutive main events himself, including a controversial stoppage of former title challenger Jared Cannonier, Imavov has his sights set on earning a title shot.

In the last USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie middleweight rankingsImavov is in 6th place, with Allen not far behind in 10th place.

With the addition, the current lineup for the UFC Fight Night event in Paris includes:

  • Renato Moicano x Benoit Saint-Denis

  • Brendan Allen vs. Nassourdine Imavov
