Cody Brundage vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan UFC in ESPN 59 preview
With a win here, Brundage (10-6 MMA, 4-5 UFC) will avenge his loss to the highly touted Bo Nickal, and also get back to .500 in his UFC tenure. Before his UFC 300 loss to Nickal, Brundage gained momentum with consecutive first-round finishes of Jacob Malkoun and Zach Reese. … Alhassan (12-6 MMA, 6-6 UFC) is also coming off a loss to rising middleweight star Joe Pyfer. Alhassan has traded wins and losses in his last four fights as he struggles to gain momentum.
Cody Brundage vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan UFC on ESPN 59 Expert Pick, Prediction
Despite having a perfect opening main card like Drew Dober vs. Jean Silva, UFC matchmakers chose to start this high-flying main card with some middleweights with suspect stamina and staying power.
While this fight between Alhassan and Brundage is the favorite to finish the distance, I think this fight could easily turn into a slow, grueling fest if these guys can’t get to the games early.
I don’t disagree with Alhassan being the favorite and I can see him finishing Brundage early as he is the cleaner attacker. That said, I suspect the dynamics of wrestling could provide Brundage with some equalizers that would help open up his offense.
You can’t be too confident in supporting either party here, but I’ll reluctantly make a pamphlet on the underdog Brundage to force a strike stoppage in round three.
