Things didn’t go the way she wanted in her first UFC main fight, but next time Amanda Lemos had the chance to headline, she didn’t disappoint.
Lemos stunned Marina Rodriguez in the UFC Fight Night 214 headliner in November 2022 with a third-round TKO. Nine months later, she got a shot at the women’s strawweight title.
In the third, Lemos released his hands early and surprised Rodríguez with a punch. Realizing that her opponent did not react naturally, Lemos closed the distance and emptied the tank with punches until referee Jason Herzog removed her.
Rodriguez never fell to the ground, but her body language as she ducked into the fence indicated she was out of it. And although she later complained about the early stoppage, it was not in vain – Lemos won her second victory in a row and this resulted in the title fight.
Saturday, Lemos (14-3-1 MMA, 8-3 UFC) is back in another main fight. At UFC on ESPN 60 in Las Vegas, she faces Virna Jandiroba (20-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) in a fight that is a virtual pick’em in the betting window.
But before Lemos faces Jandiroba at UFC Apex, check out how she submitted Marina Rodriguez in the video above.
