The once-maligned sport of bare-knuckle boxing has grown in popularity over the years, especially on social media.

Fight with bare knuckles Championship and President Dave Feldman are at the forefront of making the sport’s beautiful brutality more popular.

McGregor’s recent acquisition of shares in the company will do wonders for the once-fledgling promotion, which will break new ground on October 12 when it hosts an event in Marbella, Spain.

And the biggest name in MMA history has aspirations of one day competing in what has become his new personal project.

The former two-division UFC champion said: “For me, I have a little bit of business I left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, I have two fights left on my contract.

“But we definitely have three lightweights here on the dais and you know, I’ve got my eye on all of them. [them].

“I’m not just here as an owner. Player-coach, I’ll call myself in this case.”

McGregor, 36, rarely gets involved in projects he isn’t passionate about or believes can be successful.

And he evaluates the sky is the limit for BKFC, who recently signed two-time women’s super welterweight champion Hannah Rankin.

With more sides to his personality than an octagon, Conor McGregor’s rise has been fascinating.

“The companies I own and support have always been ones I believe in,” he said. “I look for opportunities that mean something to me.

“I don’t enter into any business venture lightly or without seriously considering what I can bring to the table.

“So when you see my name attached to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, you know that I am truly committed to the business and taking it to the pinnacle of success.

“I started out as a boxer and bare knuckle fighting is the purest form. When I saw my first live event, I was blown away.

“Dave and I started talking, I don’t just support the product, I support the people behind the product.

“Dave Feldman has done an excellent job with BKFC. This is a sport on the rise and with my support I am confident I can strap it to a rocket and send it straight to the moon.

“The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is number one in the space, there is no one at that level with us.

“We are separate from any other entity in combat sports.”

BKFC supremo Feldman said: “It’s unbelievable the attention we are already receiving to bring this event to Marbella, Spain. And it will be in a bullfighting arena.

“Bullfighting and hand-to-hand fighting go hand in hand.

“We have Franco Tenaglia of Spain taking on Tony Soto for the BKFC Lightweight World Championship.

“We have Dan Chapman, who I tried to sign three years ago, and he will be a star at BKFC.

“And former two-time women’s boxing champion Hannah Rankin.”

“We will definitely be back in Spain, we will go to Madrid in March or April. We love it here.”

BKFC Spain takes place at Marbella Arena on October 12th and its main attraction is the fight for the lightweight title between Argentinean Spaniard Franco Tenaglia and New Yorker Tony Soto.
