Steve Garcia made the most of your unexpected UFC on ESPN 60 co-main event opportunity.

Originally scheduled for the main card, Garcia (16-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) vs. Seungwoo Choi (11-7 MMA, 4-6 UFC) entered the co-lead when Brad Tavares vs. Jun Yong Park was canceled after Friday’s weigh-in. Just over 24 hours later, Garcia took advantage of the opportunity by submitting Choi with strikes at 1:36 of the first round. The featherweight fight took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

A right hand initially appeared to hurt Choi, but three subsequent left hands were what knocked him down. Choi took cover and Garcia swarmed. With Choi unable to defend himself intelligently, referee Herb Dean intervened and stopped the fight.

With the victory, Garcia is now at the top of the leaderboard with the longest streak of knockouts/TKOs in the UFC, with four. On the other hand, Choi falls to 1-4 in his last five.
