LAS VEGAS – Luana Carolina defeated Lucie Pudilova on Saturday night at UFC on ESPN 60.

Carolina (11-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) used a solid 15-minute performance to claim a unanimous decision from Pudilova (14-10 MMA, 3-8 UFC) 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 at UFC Apex. It was Carolina’s third consecutive win and she later revealed how she had to alter her game plan because of an injury suffered during training camp.

“My game, yeah, that’s amazing. What a lot of people don’t know is that a month ago I broke my right foot,” Carolina said through an interpreter. “Nobody knew about it. To my coaches and everyone at PI, from the receptionist to the physiotherapist, thank you very much for all your help. I asked God, if this is meant to happen, I will give it my all and I will make it happen. And I did. …

“Even with all the difficulties we had, even during all the weight reduction I was unable to move some things. We made it happen and fought against a fighter from the heaviest category. To be able to do that, yes, I am growing in the UFC.”
