MANCHESTER, England – [autotag]Caolan Loughran[/autotag] met with the media on Wednesday before his fight in UFC 304.
Loughran (9-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) faces Jake Hadley (10-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) in a bantamweight bout on the preliminary card on ESPN2 at Co-op Live in Manchester, England. At media day in Manchester, Loughran answered questions from members of the media ahead of his fight.
Loughran, an Irish teammate of former UFC title challenger Darren Till in nearby Liverpool, was scheduled to face Ramon Taveras on Saturday but brings in Hadley as a late replacement. He will be looking to make it two wins in a row after suffering his first professional defeat last September.
He said that because of Manchester’s proximity to Dublin, he expects a large Irish fan base – in addition to the fan base that trains in Liverpool for most of the year.
“I trained at my own gym this morning – just a 30-mile drive (to Manchester) or so,” said Loughran. “I’m not the home fighter, but I don’t expect to be that bad this weekend. It’s as close as we can get to UFC Dublin, so I’m expecting a large Irish contingent in the crowd. .”
