Ian Lawler retires from MMA after victory

July 30 – Somerset Martial Arts owner Ian Lawler retires from professional MMA with a huge victory. After 12 professional Mixed Martial Arts fights, 44 fights in total between his amateur and professional career, Lawler dropped the gloves on Friday after his victory in the Aries Fight Series at the famous Cotton Eyed Joes, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Lawler finished his fighting career with an impressive professional record of 7-4-1, a combined total mark of 37-7.

Lawler, who is planning to open another martial arts school in Danville, Kentucky, has owned and operated his own martial arts school in Somerset for nearly a decade.

Lawler has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is also a military veteran, having served as a Marine Corps assigned to a Marine Combat Unit for six years.
