UFC sets Brandon Royval x Tatsuro Taira as headliner for October event

A big flyweight fight is getting the five-round treatment in the main event.

On the UFC Fight Night card, October 12, main candidates [autotag]Brandon Royval[/autotag] It is [autotag]Tatsuro Taira[/autotag] will face each other in a main fight at the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas.

Two people with knowledge of the match confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie on Thursday, but requested anonymity as the promotion has not yet been made official. User X @realkevink first reported the news.

Royval (16-7 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is riding high after a surprising win over Brandon Moreno in February. Royval won the main fight in a short time and defeated Moreno, a former champion, in his native Mexico.

Fast-rising star Taira (16-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) enters his second promotional main fight. The 24-year-old Japanese phenom has finished four of his six UFC matches to date, including his most recent fight against Alex Perez in June.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night schedule for October 12 includes:
