ABU DHABI – [autotag]Guram Kutateladze[/autotag] showed his skills in the octagon, but the results didn’t translate.
Kutateladze (12-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) will look to break a two-fight losing skid when he faces newcomer Jordan Vucenic (13-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC on ABC 7 (ABC, ESPN2, ESPN+) preliminaries at the Etihad Arena.
After defeating the current top lightweight contender, Mateusz Gamrot, in his UFC debut, Kutateladze was defeated by Damir Ismagulov and submitted at the end of the fight with a victory for Elves Brener.
“They were tough fights, but once again it’s the fight game,” Kutateladze told MMA Junkie. “That’s how it works. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn, and that’s what we did. I talked to the team. I talked to close friends and close friends of mine. I did my homework. I worked on the mistakes.
“We made some adjustments and improved our game. Not just athletically, not just practically, but also mentally and psychologically. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it’s what we do. That’s life, and I was hit a lot harder.” life than any cage fight.”
Kutateladze faces former Cage Warriors champion Vucenic, whose last five wins have come via submission. However, Kutateladze is confident that he will beat him everywhere.
“He is a versatile fighter,” said Kutateladze. “He has good striking, good jiu-jitsu, but in my opinion I have a higher level of striking, a higher level of jiu-jitsu and wrestling than my opponent. that wherever the fight is, I will be ready for it.”
