Nominated: Evan Elder defeated. Darrius Flowers at UFC on ESPN 59

[autotag]Evan Elder[/autotag] (9-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and Darrius Flowers (12-8-1 MMA, 0-3 UFC) agreed to the welterweight fight four days in advance, and they did it in Denver. Conditioning on both sides has largely shown why this may not be the best ideal

Still, Elder got the job done. He secured an arm triangle choke in the second round of the contest, securing the much-needed victory over Flowers.

Nominated: Julian Erosa defeated. Christian Rodriguez at UFC on ESPN 59

[autotag]Juliana Erosa[/autotag](29-11 MMA, 8-7 UFC)’s third stint in the Octagon continues to pale in comparison to his first, after he defeated Christian Rodriguez (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC)

Erosa has now won seven of 10 fights since returning to the promotion in June 2020, thanks to a first-round submission victory over Rodriguez. During a confusion after receiving a kick, Erosa managed to grab Rodriguez’s neck and lock in a guillotine that forced the tap at 4:49 of the first round.

Nominated: Virna Jandiroba won. Amanda Lemos at UFC on ESPN 60

[autotag]Virna Jandiroba[/autotag] (21-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) could have secured a Submission of the Year candidacy when she skillfully and violently made Amanda Lemos (14-3-1 MMA, 8-3 UFC) tap out in the main event of the straw weight.

In a heavy fight, Jandiroba seemed to have an answer for everything Lemos presented. The finishing sequence was beautiful, as Jandiroba slipped from a rear naked choke attempt on the back to land a horribly angled arm.

Nominated: Sam Patterson defeated. Kiefer Crosbie at UFC 304

[autotag]Sam Patterson[/autotag] (12-2-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) quickly established dominance on the ground before submitting Kiefer Crosbie (10-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) in the welterweight bout.

Patterson scored his second straight first-round submission when he landed an arm triangle choke on Crosbie three minutes into the first round. Patterson caught Crosbie coming in with an uppercut before taking him to the mat and submitting him.

[autotag]Paddy Pimblett[/autotag] it passed arguably its toughest test to date with flying colors.

Pimblett (22-3 MMA, 6-0 UFC) reinforced all the talk with a classic triangle submission that left King Green (32-16-1 MMA, 13-11-1 UFC) dozing on the canvas at 3:22 of the 1st round.

Green came out swinging, but ultimately shot for the takedown. Pimblett grabbed his neck and pulled out a guillotine choke. When Green poked his head out, Pimblett promptly grabbed a triangle choke. Green tried to adjust, but Pimblett grabbed his leg.

As Green sat back, the lights went out and Pimblett also entered an armbar. Green was unconscious and the fight was called off.

Pimblett continues his rise through the UFC ranks. The submission was his third in six fights in the UFC. Before his win over Green, Pimblett defeated Tony Ferguson, Jared Gordon and Jordan Leavitt, among others.
