French announcers lament ‘this demon called Curry’ during Steph rampage originally appeared in NBC Sports Bay Area
Steph Curry went into demon mode, literally, in Team USA’s victory over France in the gold medal game at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Curry scored 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and 8-of-13 from 3-point range, with one rebound, five assists and two steals. Team USA win 98-87 over France on Saturday at the Bercy Arena.
Not only was the Warriors star the U.S. team’s top scorer, but he also helped the Americans secure Olympic gold with a fourth quarter hustle forever.
All the French and their announcers could do was watch in horror. With Team USA leading 82-79 with 2:48 left in the fourth quarter, Curry hit a three-pointer that resulted in a French broadcast call that you’ll have to hear to believe.
“Come on, we should keep stealing the ball…”
*Curry scores 3 points*
“…this demon called Curry is hurting us!”
Other highlights from the French broadcast include:
“Watch out, watch out for Steph’s shot! Oh no…but nooooo!! but nooooo!!”
“Steph Curry on the buzzer…how is that possible?!”
“Steph Curry. He got the hot hand, he got the hot hand! How is that possible?! He got the hot hand, Steph Curry!!!”
“They gave everything they got, the French. But with Steph Curry and her ‘maestra’…”
The French got to experience what other NBA teams have faced since Curry’s 2009-10 NBA debut season. And it didn’t go well.
Steph has a lot of nicknames, but perhaps “this demon named Curry” is at the top of the list. And perhaps the city of Paris now needs an exorcism.
