Oshae Brissett responds to Heat fans’ ‘We want Boston’ chants originally appeared in NBC Sports Boston

Miami Heat fans were confident after defeating the Chicago Bulls in Friday’s play-in game.

The Kaseya Center crowd began chanting “We want Boston” in the final minutes of Miami’s 112-91 victory. The No. 8 seed Heat will face the No. 1 overall seed Celtics in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.

Although they enter this series as underdogs, the Heat defeated the C’s as the eighth seed in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals. Miami fans may want the matchup based on how last year’s matchup went, but Celtics forward Oshae Brissett warns them to be careful with what they want.

“See you on Sunday,” he said in a video posted on your YouTube channel. “Keep yelling ‘We want the Celtics.’ We will continue this conversation after the first round.”

The Celtics were already heavy favorites in the first round after finishing the regular season with a league-best 64-18 record. With Jimmy Butler (knee) and Terry Rozier (neck) sidelined for the Heat, Miami faces an even tougher battle against a team that enters this postseason with a championship or bust mentality.

Still, Boston knows not to underestimate Miami. The Heat are a problematic team that can cause problems with their physical style of play. As the great C man Kristaps Porzingis said, IIt’s going to be a war” among these enemies of the Eastern Conference.

Celtics-Heat Game 1 is set for a 1pm ET tip-off at TD Garden.
