BOSTON (AP) – The Cleveland Cavaliers will try to extend their season without an All-Star DonovanMitchell It is Caris LeVertwho were ruled out before Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinal against Boston on Wednesday night.
Mitchell is dealing with a left calf strain and LeVert is nursing a left knee contusion. The Cavs continue their confrontation with the Celts 3-1. Cleveland will also be without a center Jarrett Allen for the eighth game in a row as he continues to recover from a rib injury suffered in the previous round against Orlando.
center Kristaps Porzingis remains out of Boston with a right calf strain. He did not play in this series.
Mitchell’s teammates stepped up in his absence in Game 4, falling 109-102 in the closest game of the matchup.
Mitchell is averaging 29.6 points in these playoffs. LeVert is averaging 10.1 points off the bench.
