SNY Ian Begley will be responding and detailing the answers to Knicks questions from readers. Here are the latest…

Hey Ian, do you think the Knicks would use at least one of their draft picks this offseason to land a young prospect or do you think they would end up trading all three picks (if you had to guess)? -@KNYT_Hoops

Previously, I would have said that I would be shocked if the Knicks actually used all three of their draft picks, but I’m starting to think it’s possible they pick three players. What is your opinion on the most likely way they would use the reeds? – @NolanPReynolds

Thanks for the questions, guys. The 2024 NBA Draft is still three weeks away, so it’s hard to say anything for certain at this point.

If I had to guess, the Knicks make at least one of their three picks this year. They have 24th and 25th place in the first round and 38th in the second.

ESPN and Yahoo reported that the Knicks are looking to trade their first-round picks. This makes sense given the recent history of the organization and the current state of the franchise.

New York, as we all know, will be aggressive in trade activities this offseason. If the Knicks have a chance to add a top player who fits the roster, they will go after that player vigorously.

The Knicks took this approach in the 2022 offseason with DonovanMitchell. I hope they do it again if the right opportunity arises.

In this scenario, they would use their initial capital on potential negotiations. They can make up to eight first-round picks right now. So it makes sense that New York would be open to changing its choices. The Knicks also have a history of trading their picks on draft night under the command of the team president. Leon Rosa.

But I don’t get the sense they’re fully committed to changing their 2024 picks.

In some of the recent draft meetings in New York, discussions centered on finding players in the draft who could fill a hole.

Following the Game 7 loss to the Pacers, there was internal concern about the Knicks’ postseason roster depth (particularly against Indiana). So in some of these recent draft meetings, the focus has been on finding players who can bolster the roster.

Could the Knicks be preparing for multiple scenarios on draft night? Absolutely. The NBA board is responsible for preparing all possibilities in the offseason. Therefore, the Knicks are likely talking about the possibilities of making their picks while also looking at potential trade opportunities.

But it’s important to note that the conclusion of some in these recent meetings is that the Knicks will add talent through the 2024 draft.
