The Cavs sign Kenny Atkinson.
Kenny, of course, spent several years with Golden State after three-plus years with the Brooklyn Nets and the Cavs are in a very interesting situation right now because, for example, you have the Donovan Mitchell situation where he could sign an extension with the cavs or if he decides not to, it will obviously be a sign that he wants to leave.
It seems like everything we’ve heard so far is very likely to happen, as long as they find the right coach.
And if they, if they’re hiring Kenny Atkinson, and they feel pretty confident about it, especially if Dan Gilbert is leading that coaching search or leading the move from James Borrego as the leading candidate for now Kenny Atkinson to take over, maybe he knows something that the rest of us don’t know.
Now, I also think that ownership getting involved and basically changing the course of coaching searches is not always the most positive thing, you know, the Monty Williams record deal seemed to be kind of run by Tom Gorris and not Troy Weaver who it is no longer there because of all the situations and everything that happened there.
And that just makes things confusing.
It’s very, very, I won’t say impure, but it just makes a very complicated situation because you’re wondering now, is the coach going to answer to the general manager in the boardroom or is the coach going to answer to the owner, the power structure in these situations becomes very dark and murky.
