Klay posts farewell to Warriors, Dub Nation: ‘Sea captain out’ originally appeared in NBC Sports Bay Area
Finishing the end of an era, Klay Thompson officially said goodbye for the Warriors and Dub Nation.
The four-time NBA champion shared a heartfelt post on his Instagram page on Friday afternoon, thanking the Warriors and Dub Nation for the memories of the past 13 years.
“Oh Bay Area, there are not enough words and pictures to convey how I truly feel about you,” Thompson wrote, in part. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much for the best moments of my life. It was an honor to wear that Dubs jersey from day one. as many championships as possible for the region.
“…Don’t be sad it’s over, be glad it happened. Until we meet again. Sea captain out.”

Attached to the post were 10 photos and videos from Thompson’s time in the Bay, including a photo from the night he was drafted in 2011, a photo alongside the Warriors dynastic. trio of Steph Curry and Draymond Green and himself, a video of his beloved dog Rocco walking through the Warriors’ tunnel and, of course, a panoramic video sailing across the bay.
Thompson agreed to sign a three-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks join forces with Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving in a five-team sign-and-trade deal – bringing the curtain down on a historic dynasty that changed the game of basketball.
After 13 NBA seasons and four championships, Thompson’s career with the Warriors is over, but as proven by his latest social media post, the memories and legacy he left in the Bay Area will live on forever.
