When the Warriors supposedly pursued a blockbuster trade with LeBron James before last season’s trade deadline, which happened in Team USA exhibition victory over Canada on Wednesday night in Las Vegas That’s probably what they imagined with the idea of teaming up with the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with Steph Curry.
In the third quarter of Team USA’s victory, James forced a transition turnover and started a counterattack with Curry in front of him.
James passed the ball crosscourt to Curry, who returned it for an alley-oop highlight, giving Team USA an 11-point lead.
If Warriors CEO Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy managed to pull off a tricky trade for LeBron, he could have knocked down lobs from Curry at Chase Center.
No negotiations materialized, and instead the iconic duo are now trying to lead Team USA to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
James shared a photo on Thursday morning while highlighting his partnership with Curry on Team USA, hinting at the group of fans who want the two stars to play together.

Following Team USA’s 86-72 victory over Canada, Curry and James led the post-game TV interview on the court together.
As James was questioned about the dead end, Curry could be seen jumping around like a kid in a candy store.
“We love playing basketball and just trying to share with each other,” James told FS1. “I missed him in the first half on an open three that I threw out of bounds. But he was able to connect with me in the lobby. It’s fun. We play the game at a high level, but most importantly we just play the game we love the right way and this is the result of that.”
Curry finished with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from 3-point range. James scored seven points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field in Team USA’s first tune-up for Paris.
The 36 year old man Curry signed with the Warriors for the next two seasons, while James just re-signed with the Lakers in a two-year, $101 million contract. Therefore, it is unlikely that the two will team up in the NBA before their careers are over.
But in the coming weeks, Curry and James will have a chance to showcase what the Warriors dreamed of when they tried to bring together the iconic stars.
