Davis upsets Klay Warriors’ departure and disrupts ‘storybook ending’ originally appeared in NBC Sports Bay Area

Like the Klay Thompson era comes to an end for Golden State, former Warrior Baron Davis has conflicted feelings about how the situation unfolded.

Speaking with Draymond Green on “The Draymond Green Show,” Davis expressed his disappointment that Thompson agreed to a sign-and-trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

“I hate to see it,” Davis said. “Because you were babies and it’s similar to how we feel about Kobe here in Los Angeles, because you see people go from young men to men, from superstars to legends. So I wish Klay the best because I’m a Klay fan.

“Firstly, I am a fan of the player, so whatever the player wants to do, I support. But as a fan of the Warriors and what he meant to the Warriors, I just hope they make the documentary, welcome him back, just honor the man the way he should. But shit, man, the dynasty is over…this isn’t the storybook ending that was supposed to happen.

Thompson, Green and Steph Curry have become the faces of the Warriors franchise, which has won four NBA titles and reached six NBA Finals in the last 10 seasons. After negotiations with Thompson stopped, he asked to be moved to another team, eventually landing with the Mavericks.

Now, the new Warriors will look to compete in a fierce Western Conference and maximize the remaining years Curry and Green have left in their NBA careers. Emotions will no doubt run high when Thompson and the Mavericks come to Chase Center next season for the first time.
