Dub Nation and the rest of the NBA world are still trying to process Klay Thompson’s departure from the Warriors.

Even weeks later, Thompson holding up a Dallas Mavericks jersey just doesn’t feel right.

But for others, it’s easier not to process the breakup — something Thompson has known for a long time. Warriors teammate Draymond Green admitted Sunday night in an interview with ESPN’s Cassidy Hubbarth during Golden State’s NBA Summer League matchup with the Chicago Bulls.

“It’s a classic story about suppressing your emotions right now,” Green said. “I haven’t really allowed myself to process this. I don’t want to. I feel like I’ll face it when I have to. But still, I’m happy for Klay, happy that he has the opportunity to play basketball at a high level and feel like Klay again .

“So I’m looking forward to that and I think he’s going to have a big year and show people he still has a lot left in the tank.”

Green, Thompson and Steph Curry have spent the last 12 seasons together, igniting a cultural shift in Golden State Warriors basketball and uniting a historic dynasty.

They unquestionably ruled the league for years and won four NBA championships together. And now, it’s all over.

While that reality is difficult for Green to understand, he can at least rest assured that Thompson is happy with his decision to join the defending Western Conference champions.

For now, though, he’ll continue to make the most of the summer and offseason as best he can. And when training camp and practices pick up, maybe he’ll realize the Warriors’ Big Three are no more.
