O Networks are negotiating for the Memphis Grizzlies small forward Ziaire Williams and a 2030 second-round pick in exchange for offensive power Mamadi DiakitéESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Williams is a former first-round draft pick, selected 10th overall by Memphis in the 2021 NBA Draft after spending a year at Stanford.
The 22-year-old spent the last three seasons with the Grizzlies and played in 150 games (50 starts). During that time, Williams averaged 7.5 points on 42.6 percent shooting, along with 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
The small forward averaged 19.6 minutes per game and shot 30.1 percent from three-point range and made 80.3 percent of his free throws.
Williams will likely be behind the starter Cam Johnson and will fight for minutes with Jalen Wilson.
As for what Brooklyn sent in return, the Nets are missing Diakite, who they received from the Knicks in Mikal Bridges trade early this offseason.
Diakite, 27, played four seasons in the NBA for five different teams. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder averaged 3.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 55 games (six starts).
The 2030 second-round pick that Brooklyn also received in the deal is from the Dallas Mavericks.
