Draymond Green always has the Warriors’ long-term future in mind.
Even if there was a significant change to be made that would benefit him and the current Golden State team.
The Warriors forward joined former NBA guard Jeff Teague in latest episode of his “Club 520 Podcast”, where he revealed that he advised Golden State not to make recent trades because he was concerned about the impact they could have on the organization in the long term.
“In doing what we did, there is still concern about the organization,” Green said. “We were about to do some trades last week and I told them straight up ‘Hey, this trade is going to help me. It’s going to help me now in my career over the last two years and Steph [Curry], but I have always spoken to you about what is best for this organization. I won’t stop now. This is a bad trade, how can you not make this trade. I disagree with that, although it will help me now.'”
Green went on to discuss longtime teammate Klay Thompson’s departure from the Warriors to the Dallas Mavericks this offseason and how the sign-and-trade deal helped ease Golden State’s financial situation.
