The USA began its defense of its Olympic basketball title with a dominant victory over Serbia.

Despite the best efforts of Denver Nuggets MVP center Nikola Jokic, Serbia fell to a 22-point defeat at Pierre Mauroy Stadium.

There was no stopping Team USA, which has 12 NBA All-Stars, four NBA MVPs and six NBA champions, who together have 11 Olympic appearances and 10 gold medals.

Two-time gold medalist LeBron James recorded 21 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, while Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant led the team with 23 points.

Jrue Holiday scored 15 points, Devin Booker 12, with Stephen Curry and Anthony Edwards scoring 11, respectively.

The USA, seeking a fifth consecutive gold medal, are now top of Group C with South Sudan on two points.
