Contract negotiations between the Dallas Cowboys and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb do not appear to be going well.

In fact, things got wild on social media Thursday afternoon after a quote from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones caught Lamb’s attention. Although it was taken a little out of context, Lamb is clearly not happy about it.

He went so far as to eliminate “America’s Team” from his biography afterwards as well.

Lamb has weathered training camp this summer as he works to land a new long-term contract with the Cowboys. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract with a $17.9 million fifth-year option. By comparison, Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson reset the market with a new four-year, $140 million contract earlier this summer.

Lamb is coming off a career season with the Cowboys last year where he racked up 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns on 135 receptions. He also helped lead Dallas to the playoffs for the third consecutive season, although they were eliminated in the wild card round.

It remains unclear how far the two sides have reached in their negotiations as the Cowboys approach their first preseason game this weekend, but Lamb is not yet participating with the team at camp in Oxnard, California.

“We are doing great work [done] and making real progress,” Jones said Thursday, via Nick Harris of the Cowboys. “I don’t think [we’re] missing a step from where we are now.”

Jokes was then asked if there is “a sense of urgency when pre-season starts to do something” with Lamb.

“No,” he replied clearly, and that was what Lamb objected to. Jones was then asked why and, well, he gave an answer that only he could and that didn’t really explain anything.

While Jones may not be eager for the deal to get done, at least one Cowboys star — who is also waiting for a new contract — is ready to welcome Lamb back.

“I know you guys want to ask, I have an urgency to make this happen,” quarterback Dak Prescott he said on Thursday.

When Lamb’s deal closes, it seems, remains to be seen.
