Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye could have rookie offensive linemen protecting his blind side this season.
The Patriots could have one All-rookie left side of the offensive linewhich is what they had when third-round pick Caedan Wallace was at left tackle and fourth-round pick Layden Robinson was at left guard during rookie minicamp, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
It’s certainly not certain that Wallace and Robinson will win the starting jobs there, but Wallace will have a chance to compete with veteran free agent Chukwuma Okorafor at left tackle. And with left guard Cole Strange coming off a knee injury in December, it’s possible Robinson will have to replace him if he isn’t ready at the start of the season.
Wallace and Robinson became fast friends, with Wallace describing the two as “inseparable” since they began texting each other shortly after the Patriots drafted them both. They may spend a lot of time lined up next to each other in the years to come.
