Report: HBO, NFL Films Announce New ‘Hard Knocks’ Show, Team originally appeared in NBC Sports Chicago
HBO and NFL Films will unveil a new spinoff of their hit show”Hard beats“this summer. And it still won’t include the Bears. According to Ian RapoportThe new show follows the New York Giants as they navigate the offseason from the end of the 2023 regular season through the summer.
It’s not yet clear who will participate in the best-known iteration of “Hard Knocks,” which follows a team through training camp. The Bears could be picked if no team raises their hand. It’s easy to see how they could make good summer TV, too. #1 overall pick Caleb Williams looks ready to take on a starring role, and he has a cast of game-makers around him, such as DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Roma Odunze, D’Andre Swift, Cole Kmet. Of course, the defense is full of its own stars, headlined by Jaylon Johnson and Sweat Montez.
It’s been well documented that the Bears view the show as a distraction and prefer that TV crews not invade their space.
If the Bears are not chosen for the training camp edition of “Hard Knocks,” there is still a chance they could appear in the future. In 2021, the program launched an “in-season” spinoff that follows a team from mid-year to a possible foray into the playoffs. This year the show will follow an entire division, so if they pick the NFC North, the Bears will be involved.
