The Steelers’ offense will be very different in 2024 and that looks good for tight end Pat Freiermuth.
New offensive coordinator Arthur Smith also ran the offense while he was the Falcons’ head coach and more than a third of his passes during his time in Atlanta were directed to tight ends. The Steelers struggled less often under former coordinator Matt Canada, so it’s not shocking to learn that Freiermuth is eager to learn how he expects to be used this season.
“That’s it very exciting,” said Freiermuth, via Jason Mackey of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “With Arthur here, there are a lot of things for tight ends, situations where you want to make those plays. I’m excited about it. I’m ready to roll.
Freiermuth is in the final year of his rookie contract, so a shift in offensive focus under Smith could end up benefiting him and the Steelers in a number of ways before it’s all said and done.
