The Jets face the 49ers in week one of Monday Night Football, and Jets running back Breece Hall says it gives him an opportunity to show he belongs on the same field as the NFL’s best.
The best, according to Hall, is 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, and Hall sees the season opener against McCaffrey as an opportunity to show the football world that Hall is also an elite running back.
“It’s my fault,” Hall said of improving his game this year through New York Post Office. “I feel like now McCaffrey is the best in the league. For me, he sets the standard. We’ll see you in the first week. . . . It’s exciting to see where I’m at and really let everyone see all of my talent now that I’m healthy.”
Hall got off to a great start in his rookie year in 2022 before suffering a torn ACL in his seventh game. He returned to play all 17 games in 2023, but said the knee affected him for much of the season. Now, Hall says, he’s fully prepared to show everything he can do.
“I’ve improved this off-season. I’m a lot leaner. I feel a lot healthier. My knee feels a lot better. I feel like I’m back to where I was before,” he said.
Hall also said that a healthy Aaron Rodgers will transform not only the Jets’ passing game, but the running game as well.
“It’s going to take a lot of pressure off me,” Hall said. “I won’t have to go up against so many boxes from one height. I go against a lot of two-height boxes, which creates more space for me to work. People won’t be able to just sit by because Aaron will divide them. I’m excited, for sure.”
