Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux had a solid sophomore season last year, starting all 17 games and finishing with 11.5 sacks. But a recent conversation with Lawrence Taylor reminded Thibodeaux that he can do more.

Taylor, arguably the greatest pass rusher in NFL history, spoke with Thibodeaux at a recent “Night with Legends” team event and inspired him to aspire to a legendary career.

“I mean, LT back there, man. Just him, Michael Strahan, Carl Banks, Osi Umenyiora,” Thibodeaux said, via NFL.com. “When you have a guy like LT, right, we kind of switch back and forth and he’s like, ‘Man, how many sacks did you have last year?’ And I said, ‘Oh, I had 11.5.’ He’s like, ‘What did you play? Three games?’ When you have those shoes to fill, you have no choice but to be great. I have the best guys to look up toand now I continue to set goals and achieve them.”

Setting a goal to be the type of player Taylor was may not be realistic, but at 23 years old Thibodeaux appears to have a bright future ahead of him, and his name could be mentioned among some of the Giants’ greats in the coming years.
