The Tennessee Titans are adding safety Jamal Adams after the two sides agreed to a one-year deal, the team announced on Thursday.

Adams, 28, spent the last four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks after beginning his NFL career with the New York Jets. Adams fell victim to the Seahawks’ salary cap hit after being released on March 5.

Adams signed a four-year, $70 million extension with the Seahawks in 2021, making him the highest-paid safety in the NFL at the time.

Injuries sidelined Adams for most of the past two seasons. Since 2022, he has played just 10 games after tearing the quadriceps tendon above his left knee. This kept him off the field until the start of the 2023 season when he suffered a concussion.

Adams is a three-time Pro Bowler and was a first-team All-Pro in 2019 and second-team All-Pro in 2018 and 2020. He will reunite with Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, who was his defensive backs coach while at Jets.

In four seasons with the Seahawks, Adams recorded 9.5 sacks, 22 tackles for loss and two interceptions.

With Amani Hooker and Elijah Molden already on the roster, Adams will have to fight for a starting spot when the Titans open training camp on July 23.
