NFL Films will place cameras in the facilities of all four AFC North teams for the season’s version of Hard beats this year, and Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward isn’t a fan.
Asked how he felt when he found out that his team would be at Hard beats, Heyward said on the Not Just Football Podcast: “I hated it. I don’t want to be in this.
Heyward says he believes the clips can be taken out of context to make interactions in NFL locker rooms appear different than they are.
“The locker room is the locker room, and I just don’t want it to get messy,” he said, via PennLive.com. “There are so many inside jokes, so many people. There are so many people that you would think everyone was an idiot if they heard everything. But it comes from a loving place and a caring place. We all want to be better and we play a lot. We poke and prod each other, but it’s not always like that. And so, that’s the only thing I really care about.”
The league expanded Hard beats this season, adding the off-season version around the Giants that is currently airing and featuring an entire division in the in-season version. Players may not like it, but Hard beats is here to stay.
