49ers have the most players in the top 10, by NFL coaches and executives originally appeared in NBC Sports Bay Area
The 49ers have built one of the strongest rosters in the NFL, earning the respect of league personnel for the impressive collection of players they have assembled.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler conducted a survey of NFL coaches, executives and scouts, who voted for the top 10 players at every position.
While Brock Purdy was notably snubbed of the quarterback roster, the 49ers’ robust roster still earned enough selections to finish with the most players in the top 10 of any NFL team.
The nine players who earned top-10 designations at their respective positions included running backChristian McCaffrey (1), offensive tackle Trent Williams (1), defensive end Nick Bosa (4), defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (9), security Talanoa Hufanga (9), tight end George Kittle (two), Fred Warner linebackers (1) and Dre Greenlaw (9), and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (10)
Even more impressive than the total number of 49ers players on the list is the number of different positions (8) San Francisco represented in Fowler’s research.
It’s a perfect summary of the balanced roster the 49ers have built, with San Francisco regularly finishing among the best offenses and defenses in the NFL.
While the 49ers’ loaded roster has yet to result in a Super Bowl victory, San Francisco has consistently knocked on the door, a difficult feat in itself while competing in the NFL.
As the 49ers prepare for another campaign, San Francisco can enter the season with confidence, knowing it has one of the most talented teams in the NFL, with as good a chance as any to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy in February.
