I’ll just present this as my big thing for the 49er.
How loud will the noise surrounding Brock Purdy’s contract be?
This is in line with the Spot track now.
His salary cap for this year is $1.004 million.
Are you kidding me?
Brock Purdy’s contract, his cap hit is just over a million dollars and it’s important to note that you can’t renegotiate a player until he finishes his third year.
Right?
So this is the first time at the end of next season that he could be renegotiated because he was a late pick.
He only has four years left on his contract.
So if you’re a 49er fan and you’re listening and you say, okay, well, we bought it for a million this year.
And again, according to the worldwide internet, 1.19 million next year, I don’t think there’s any chance of Brock Ferdy showing up and playing for 1.19 million.
So now, all of a sudden, if you’re the 49er and Brock, we’re at this point where you go from being a really amazing story that everyone loves to support to a very real question of: Do you make $50 million a year? quarterback?
Because if the systems create quarterbacks in San Francisco, they will have to answer this very real question.
Brock Purdy played very well and if he plays this season I think most of us think he will.
I think he’s a very good quarterback.
I don’t really care if it’s the system, he’s putting in the numbers, he’s putting in and we look at the 40 trying to figure out how to balance his money already with the stars.
Yes, whether Brock plays particularly well this year or not, either way, the noise about his contract will be a huge distraction for everyone.
It’s crazy.
I, I think this might be the most interesting contract conversation we’ve ever had in the NFL, because we all agree on this, that the most valuable thing in sports is having a good quarterback on his rookie contract and no one has ever taken advantage of the fact that the 49ers could .
You’re going to get to the finish line at some point with Brock Purdy and they’re going to have to have a real conversation about: is this Kyle Shanahan or is this Brock Purdy?
And can Kyle Shanahan find the next Brock Purdy or do we just pay Brock Purdy 50 million?
Because we think he’s that guy.
These are difficult conversations.
Which makes it great.
What made his numbers jump off the page and really put him in the MVP conversation were all the guys around him.
You can’t have that kind of support, ask him if you’re paying him $50 million.
This is the enigma, the face of the 49er and they have to think about it every day.
What are we going to do?
No team has ever given up on a quarterback like Brock Purdy.

This is a big deal for the 49er.
Maybe not, you know, whether they win a Super Bowl this year or not, but for the future of the next 10 years of the San Francisco 49er, what they do in Brock Purdy’s contract is absolutely intriguing.
