Video transcript

Is the Lions secondary Super Bowl worthy?

Because what, what, in my opinion, what really happened here is that the expectation has changed in a way.

The Lions organization has never really experienced the expectation now that the Lions will be a Super Bowl-caliber football team, meaning each of their position units will have a Super Bowl-caliber game in every aspect.

There were some real doubts about this secondary at times.

I just wonder if the Lions have what it takes to beat the best of the best in the NFC and the best of the best in the AFC?

The way they’re built there currently, that’s it, the answer to every single thing has to be Super Bowl or failure for that team because they’re in that window.

Awake.

I like their secondary.

I think they came out and again had a lot of self-awareness.

Hey, the secondary isn’t good enough to win a Super Bowl, so they tried to fix it.

Terry and Arnold Falls in his lap in the first round of the NFL draft are perfect, as talented and needy a pick as you’ll find.

And then they doubled down on Rake Straw, who I think is a good young talent.

They went out and traded for Carlton Davis, who is still, you know, he’s not as good as he was a few years ago, but I still think he still has something.

I think Brian is a star in that, in that secondary and he showed that as a rookie last year.

So I think they looked at what they had to do and just said the talent isn’t good enough.

We need to add to that and they added some guys and I, I think if Arnold plays well as a rookie right away and I think he will, I think their Lions secondary is good enough.

I, I just, it’s getting hard to find a weak spot on the Detroit Lions roster.

There’s a really, really good football team that’s pretty motivated after losing the NFC championship game last year.

And to your question if the secondary is good enough to win a Super Bowl.

I think it can, uh, uh, you know, not the best secretary in the NFL, but it doesn’t have to be, that won’t be the strength.

You trust young people, you trust young people more than I do because I agree with everything you said about Arnold and RI like me, I, and look, if we’re just talking, hey, like I put on my Toas hat.

I loved both of these choices at the time and I still love them today from the beginning.

They will be tested a lot in their own division.

Me, I want it to work.

It’s just that when you’re in the Super Bowl window and you have so much youth in the secondary, you’re investing a lot in them.

Yes, you’re right.

And, above all, they will be tested in this division.

You’re not wrong about that.

But I think the combination of everything will work out for them.

They have a good defensive line.

Ian Hutchinson could win defender of the year at some point in his career.

I think this helps the secondary and I simply have a little more faith, especially in young people, than you do.

We’ll see, I guess, because that’s the question.

If, if the secondary is good enough, what is the weak point?
