Why Juszczyk believes the 49ers’ current running back area is the best ever originally appeared in NBC Sports Bay Area
With just a few weeks until the official start of the 2024 NFL season, Kyle Juszczyk is impressed with the current group of running backs on the 49ers roster.
Speaking to the media after Tuesday’s training camp practice, the veteran quarterback took some bold approaches into this offensive backfield.
“I was really impressed with these guys,” Juszczyk said. “I think we have a really special running room; I think this is the best defense room I’ve ever been in. From top to bottom, we have some really good players.
“I was particularly impressed with Cody Schrader, he works really hard, he’s really smart and he goes out there and plays a good, consistent, clean game and we really enjoyed having him. But all these guys have been impressive, they’re all very smart and they do things the right way. I love our room.”
With tastes of eight times Professional player Juszczyk and Christian McCaffrey, the 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, San Francisco has a lot of firepower in the backfield. Add names like talented rookies Isaac Guerendo and Schrader, along with the veteran presence of Jordan Mason, and you have all the ingredients for a legendary running back team.
The exceptional depth at the running back position gives the 49ers many different options with offensive formations, with McCaffrey also serving as a receiving threat.
Juszczyk caught one salary reduction during the off-seasonin part to free up space to retain the rest of San Francisco’s elite offensive playmakers as the franchise makes another run for playoff glory.
Quarterback Brock Purdy is entering the final year of his cheap rookie contract and, based on recent market dynamics, will draw a hefty salary over the next few years.
Given the 33-year-old’s comments, this running back group could prove to be one of the best in franchise history, capable of devastating opposing defenses as San Francisco faces the daunting task. to capture that indescribable sixth Vince Lombardi Trophy.
