It’s been a while since Arizona Cardinals fans have had an exciting new rookie star like Marvin Harrison Jr. And you still might not see any Harrison jerseys in the team’s home opener.
There has been a dispute for months between Harrison, the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft, and sports merchandising company Fanatics. Includes a lawsuit from Fanatics against Harrison. Harrison did not sign his licensing agreement with the NFLPA, as virtually every other player does upon entering the NFL. This meant his shirt could not be sold.
And fans will still have to wait.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that the NFLPA has warned the league, the Cardinals and Fanatics that they are not authorized to sell Harrison jerseys. This is “based on the wishes of their representatives,” Rapoport said.
Fanatics sued Harrison for breach of contract, ESPN reported in May. In the filing, Fanatics said Harrison signed a deal with it in May 2023, but Harrison “has refused to fulfill his obligations under the deal while also ‘publicly stating’ that the contract does not exist.” The deal would include autographs and game apparel, among other items.
All fans care about is when they go to the Cardinals team website, there is not a single Harrison jersey for sale. Harrison, the electric receiver from Ohio State, would likely be one of the best-selling jerseys in the NFL if he were available. We’ll see when they become available.
