It’s early August, hands up, who misses watching NHL games? Me too. The off-season presents a great opportunity to invest in hockey cards because the market is down.

Not sure which players to invest in during the offseason? Here is a suggestion.

Follow the money.

Young players are locked into long-term deals. If general managers are offering $50 million contracts to young talent, that should tell you something.

Brock Faber

Brock Faber’s first full season in the NHL did not disappoint. The 21-year-old defender had eight goals and 39 assists. Faber’s debut season earned runner-up honors to Connor Bedard in the Calder voting.

Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin wasted no time in granting Faber an eight-year, $68 million contract that begins in the 2025-26 season.

Faber signed his extension on July 26th and you can see the increase in his Young Guns PSA 10 value after the extension was signed. Faber is a safe off-season investment with advantages.

Kaiden Guhle has made quite an impression on the Montreal Canadiens in his first 114 NHL games. The 22-year-old has 10 goals and 30 assists in his young career.

Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes guaranteed Guhle a six-year, $33.3 million contract that begins in the 2025-26 season.

Guhle’s Upper Deck Young Guns PSA 10 cards have seen limited sales over the past two weeks. The last two were traded at $73 and $76, respectively.

Guhle’s statistics are not off the charts at all. But he plays in a big hockey market and his general manager made a big investment in him.

Guhle is a safe investment with the potential for a breakout season.

Happy hunting and gathering!
