In parts of 11 AHL seasons with the Providence Bruins, Houston Aeroes, Iowa Wild, San Antonio Rampage, Hartford Wolf Pack and Roadrunners, Kampfer scored 40 goals and 170 points in 378 games.

The Ann Arbor, MI native played nine NHL seasons with the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers and New York Rangers. In 231 games he scored 39 points.

Kampfer was a fourth-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, but ended up signing with the Bruins organization after four years and two CCHA championships at the University of Michigan. He played 38 regular season games for the 2011 Stanley Cup-winning Bruins but did not appear in any playoff games.

The 35-year-old already has one KHL season under his belt, he scored 11 goals and 19 assists in 46 games for Ak Bars Kazan in 2021-22 before returning to North America for two seasons.
