Flyers trade for another second round, catch the big D-man with a straight shot originally appeared in NBC Sports Philadelphia
The Flyers traded for another second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft on Saturday and grabbed Spencer Gill, a 6-foot-2 Canadian defenseman.
To take Gill at No. 59 overall, the Flyers flipped their 2024 third-round pick (No. 77 overall) and the 2025 third-round pick they acquired on Friday night to the Predators.
A little earlier, in the second round, the Flyers landed Swedish center Jack Berglund.
For the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL, Gill had 46 points (12 goals, 34 assists) and a plus-8 rating in 65 games this season. The 186-pound right shot tallied five assists in five playoff games.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported that at least one NHL scout considered Gill as a first-round prospect. TSN Craig Button considered him the 51st best player in the draft, while NHL Central Scouting had him as the 29th ranked North American skater. EliteProspects. with ranked him 68th overall.
Gill was one of two defensemen selected by the Flyers in this draft. They took Austin Moline, another right shot from 6-foot-4in the seventh round.
