Blackhawks Have Second-Best Lottery Odds for 2024 NHL Draft originally appeared in NBC Sports Chicago
The Blackhawks have just two more games left in the regular season. With the NHL season winding down, the Blackhawks’ focus inevitably shifts to the offseason.
More specifically, the 2024 NHL Draft.
The Blackhawks finished the season with the second-best lottery odds for the NHL Draft, according to Tankathon. They have a 13.5% chance of getting the No. 1 pick in the draft, behind the Sharks’ 25% chance of getting the No. 1 pick.
The lowest the Hawks can fall in the lottery is pick number 4. They are guaranteed at least one top-four pick in the NHL Draft. They have a 14.1% chance of getting the #2 pick, a 30.7% chance of getting the #3 pick, and a 41.7% chance of getting the #4 pick, Ben Pope wrote unofficially.
Last offseason, the Blackhawks spectacularly grabbed the No. 1 pick with the third-best prospects in the draft. They then had an 11.5% chance of being the No. 1 pick, just like the Ducks do this offseason. With the first pick, they selected Connor Bedard of the Regina Pats.
The Blackhawks also have another first-round draft pick, which previously belonged to the Lightning. Unfortunately, this pick will not enter the lottery because the Lightning have qualified for the playoffs. He is currently the 19th pick in the draft – the exact pick with which the Blackhawks selected Oliver Moore in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Macklin Celebrini is expected to be the first pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. He finished his freshman season at Boston University and recorded 64 points on 32 goals and 32 assists this season.
There is no set date for the 2024 NHL lottery selection, but it will take place in May.
