Oliver Wahlströmcamp and the New York Islanders are scheduled to appear before an arbitrator seven days from today.

The Islanders sent the 23-year-old restricted free agent a qualifying offer worth $917,831, a year after he signed his $874,000 QO last summer despite having interest in a multi-year contract:

In arbitration hearings, the player camp will try to get a higher salary for their player, while the team tries to make the case that the number offered is reasonable.
The arbitrator will have 48 hours to decide the case, on August 3, but it is still possible that this hearing will never happen.
The NHL saw 14 RFAs file for arbitration, with eight of them signing before they even went to court.
Therefore, Wahlstrom is one of six players who have not yet settled.
So will he and the Islanders, who have $50,000 in cap space available and no room for Wahlstrom on their NHL roster, make a deal or will Wahlstrom be moved?
Or will both sides go to arbitration?
Time will tell.
