The Nashville Predators have re-signed defenseman Spencer Stastney to a two-year contract, the team announced Thursday.
In 2024-25, Stastney’s contract is two-way, which will see him earn $825,000 at the NHL level and $400,000 at the AHL level. In the second year of his contract, it’s a one-way deal that will see him make $825,000 at the NHL level.
A product of Woodbridge, Illinois, Stastney split last season between the Predators and the Milwaukee Admirals. In 20 games with Nashville, he had four points. With Milwaukee, he scored five goals and added 15 assists for 20 points in 44 regular season games.
Selected by the Predators in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Stastney turned pro at the end of the 2021-22 season after four years at Notre Dame (NCAA).
Since turning pro, Stastney has watched 28 regular season NHL games and has six points.
While Stastney re-signs with the Predators for the next two seasons, he has a strong chance of becoming an NHL regular once the season begins. He has proven to be a reliable contributor at the AHL level and is ready to work full-time in the NHL.
